Found out my tortoise will not be out of hibernation for my shoot dates, so I am thinking about going with a regular turtle and painting it to look like a desert tortoise. Also, launched my indiegogo fundraising page.

Jan 23rd
Only got up to 175 in 1 week. Not looking good funding wise. Website is almost launched. Came to another conclusion that I will be making a cast of a shell of a turtle, for when my dirt bike riders are racing around the turtle. Also, getting an airbrush to paint over turtle, but I need to find out what type of paint to get.

My indie gogo is at 375, still have a long ways to go, starting to stress out. I really need to raise at least 2000 just for travel. I really don’t want to have to scrap this script and story if I don’t raise the money. I can’t find a desert tortoise to save my life. Found out that hotel rooms are 50 bucks a night compared to the 30 I was originally quoted. But on a good note, we figured out insurance and its only like 36 bucks for general liability.

Feb 6th

Huge contribution came in from my gdad of 1500 dollars. So that’s a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. Also, finally got a tortoise locked in. This was a great week for me.

Got a new DP. Which im stoked about. Hurtle(THE TORTOISE) has landed and is with my step mom, guess he’s quite the character. Meeting with a guy who said he can create a mold by march 7th. Got my airbrush guy on standby. Need to get another dirt bike rider. Got my locations locked, got crafty locked, got vehicles locked. Only thing I need to get is insurance for my lens’s as well as all the other rentals I need to get. Got 80% of crew locked, still trying to figure out sound. I don’t want Spencer to do it cause he might be a little to busy so I’m trying to get sound. All in all, I’m 75% ready to shoot.

March 6th

Paid insurance, paid Koerner, paid  for dana dolly, everything is ready to go for the shoot.  Got a prop tortoise, but its not a mold, just a gardening toy, but since im painting it, it will work. Only problem I see is weather, we might need to add a night scene.

March 13th

Shoot is complete! I believe we got enough coverage but I know there’s a couple shots that I missed. All in all I am happy. But, things did go wrong: I had a dehydration attack, Marjorie had an asthma attack, Casey missed his flight, XLR and HDMI cables went out, Crafty got blown into the camera car, getting to location took was longer than originally thought, the Weather was messing with us the entire time, got a speeding ticket, The damn tortoise’s schedule, etc. But like I said, I’m still very confident.

March 20th

After reviewing some of the footage I do see that I have enough coverage but I am a little worried there might be too many gaps, but I asked Zac and he said im fine, I think I’m just over analyzing it. I will start my edit the beginning of break.  This was an incredible experience for me and I’m really happy I got to share it with individuals I enjoy.
